8/1/18: There may be an occasion where a Life Fitness Discover console is attempting to interfere with the facility router from having the LifeScape courses "Auto Update" feature enabled in Facility Connect.
The Network Engineer or Technician may experience that the equipment is trying to "hack in" via SSH Protocols into the core gateway router.
The following “normal” equipment operation might incorrectly flag it as suspicious:
- Attempts to connect to the default network gateway to determine if it’s a Life Fitness or Netpulse gateway. This is done to detect whether additional functionality such as Entertainment or Virtual Course synchronization should be enabled. The gateway may detect login attempts with a user “netpulse” or similar.
- May attempt to read data from the gateway (either HTTP or wget) for the purpose of synchronizing courses
If the customer still believes the equipment is doing something suspicious, please provide Life Fitness Service Support the following details so we can better assist:
- Model and serial numbers of the affected equipment
- Logs from the network equipment
- Screenshots of what the router is reporting
