1/12/19: In order to connect an Apple Watch to a Life Fitness SE3HD or Cybex 70T console, first verify the console SKU has Gym Kit. This can be done by making sure there is a “compatible with Apple Watch” logo in the lower right corner of the console. Note: If Gym Kit is not present, there is no hardware or software on-board to allow connectivity. See the following Life Fitness Console Gym Kit SKU Reference List (left column shows the item codes without Apple Watch functionality, right column with Apple watch functionality)
Next verify Apple Watch settings have “Detect Gym Equipment” enabled. See the following service bulletin CSSC190112 for more details.
To connect an Apple watch.
1. Go to Settings on the watch.
2. Go to Workouts, or General and then Workouts (depending on iOS) on the watch.
3. Enable Detect Gym Equipment, on the watch. Now the watch can be paired to the console.
4. Bring the watch close to NFC printed on the console.
5. Verify the watch is paired
Alternatively the connection can also be established without setting the "Detect Gym Equipment" option on. To do so, follow the below semi-automatic procedure.
Further troubleshooting:
- For consoles with RFID SKUs, be sure that the RFID function is enabled.
- To verify Bluetooth functionality, put the console in pairing mode to see nearby devices that are active. If devices are found, Bluetooth is working. If Bluetooth is still not working, restart the unit by turning the product off and then back on. If the problem persists, pull the logs from the unit and create a service task so Engineering can look into it.
- A minimum of Apple watch OS 4.2.2 (which can only be downloaded by pairing with an iPhone 5s or later) must be installed
