Disassemble Hammer Strength
Some machine models may be equipped with weight stack cover shrouds and incremental weights. During the main unit and reflector tape installation, the left front shroud will need to be removed and the increment weights lowered. The following steps will show this process.
1. Pull the knob of the first increment weight and slowly move it down until it rests on the top weight plate, then repeat pulling the knob on the second increment weight and move it down until it rests on the first increment weight.
2. Use a 7mm Allen hex bit to remove the three screws securing the left shroud and place to the side
3. Move the shroud towards the right, then flex and turn the shroud, so it clears the incremental weight knobs and place to the side
Device Holder Installation
1. Measure from the floor up the frame (See Device Holder Locations table, column A) and place the bottom hole of the kit supplied device holder pivot bracket at that point, then use a center punch to make an indentation into the frame as shown. Note: For model HS-HG see the following article Life Fitness Connect System Kit Hammer Strength HS-HG Device Holder Installation Instructions
Warning: Use a power drill, not an impact driver.
2. Use a ¼" socket to loosely insert the first #8-18 x ¾ self-tapping screw into the bottom hole of the bracket at the center punch mark.
3. Use a level to align the bracket straight, then again use a center punch to make an indentation into the frame for the top hole
Warning: Use a power drill, not an impact driver.
4. Use a ¼" socket and again loosely insert the second #8-18 x ¾ self-tapping screw into the top hole of the bracket at the center punch mark.
5. Finally, tighten both screws of the bracket using a ¼" socket. Attention: DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN! Torque to 16-20 in/lbs. (1.8-2.2 Nm
6. PLEASE VACUUM ANY DEBRIS FROM DRILLING.
7. Take the device holder sub-assembly and align the first hole of the bracket with the center hole of the previously installed pivot bracket, then insert a kit supplied #M6-1 x 20 mm screw and #M6 flat washer as shown.
8. Loosely attach a kit supplied #M6 flat washer and #M6 nylock nut as shown on the underneath side of the bracket to the screw.
9. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for the second screw and hardware.
10. The device holder can swivel right or left. NOTE: Leave the device holder loose until the shroud is re-attached (if applicable).
11. Once the shroud is re-attached (if applicable), adjust the holder to the preferred position, then use a #M10 wrench or socket and #M5 allen hex bit or wrench to tighten the holder in place.

Install Main unit
The main unit is used together with a puck on gym machines, which is equipped with a weight stack. The main unit is mounted on the top plate of the weight stack, with a free line of sight to a reflective sticker that is attached to a flat surface above the main unit. The reflective sticker is mandatory to attach on a suitable area inside the machine with a free line of sight to the main unit. The optical sensor shall move together with the weight stack in a straight line against the reflective sticker. There must be a free field of view, approximately +/- 10 degrees from the sensor against the reflective sticker. The maximum distance between the main unit in its lowest position and the reflective card at the top is 160cm/63 inches.
Use the LF Assist App
The Life Fitness planner should have given you access to the facility in which you are installing. If you don't see the facility, contact the planner. They can add your account in almost real time. If you need to refresh the list after changes are made. Click on the 3 dots in the top right cover and click reload gyms
