Observer
Please use the following to understand how many Observers CK-OBS-101 you will need on your order, typically only one Observer per site is needed. If the customer has strength equipment on multiple floors, you will need an observer per floor. For each floor, perform the following steps.
1. Locate the outlets closest to the strength equipment.
2. The observer covers 100 meters or 328 feet with direct line of sight. Given the line of sight requirement, are there any obstructions (walls, pillars, turns, etc.) between the outlet and strength equipment? If yes, can other outlets reach the strength equipment?
Example of a preferred installation
Example of an installation with a wall obstruction where you will need more than one Observer
Examples of an installation with multiple products in another area where you will need more than one Observer
Observer Connectivity Requirements
INTERNET CONNECTION
The Connect System must have an internet connection at the time of installation. If the customer does not have internet, the system cannot be installed. Wi-Fi is the preferred method to give flexibility for placement of the Observer. The network requirements are the same as our cardio consoles.
All traffic initiated from our consoles is outbound (i.e. data only flows out from our consoles). If you do not block outbound traffic and the associated return traffic, then no additional configuration is needed. Otherwise, if your network restricts outbound traffic, you need to open outbound connections on these specific ports:
PORT CONFIGURATION
Protocols/Ports
TCP port80
TCP port443
TCPport 22
UDP port 1194
DESTINATION URLs
The cardio machines will contact *halo.fitness, *.lfconnect.com and*.s3.amazonaws.com. lifefitness.com These URLs are load-balanced and resolve to different IPs at different times, so please use the DNS names and not the resolved IPs.
WIRELESS LAN (LOCAL AREA NETWORK) REQUIREMENTS
Be sure to configure the desired SSID (service set identifier or wireless network) and security settings on your access points before attempting to associate the strength equipment. Speak with your network security specialist to determine the best security options for your Network. At this time, the machines support all commonly used encryption and authentication protocols including: WEP, WPA, and WPA2-PSK (pre shared key) with either TKIP, or AES encryption. It is recommended that you design your wireless network to achieve an RSS (received signal strength) value of -65 dBm or better, and an SNR (signal to noise ratio) of 20 dB or better. The equipment will not work with dynamic changing SSIDs or Captcha.
WALL OUTLETS
The Observer will be plugged into a wall outlet.
We support Type A, B, C, G, I. Does the facility have this outlet type?
Beacon
The Beacon CK-BEA-101 can send push notifications to the Connect App for people who come within its vicinity. Notifications can be a promotional message or invitation for services. It is recommended to put a Beacon by the entrance, typically ordering one Beacon per facility. Placing it at the front desk or on the ceiling is recommended, but up to the operator. It has a range of 30 m 100 ft range
Zone Puck
Zone Pucks CK-PUC-101 can be placed anywhere in the facility. An exerciser can tap the Puck for information like a video (reception or outside of a studio room), a workout (free weight or squat rack) or a link to a class booking tool (outside of a studio room). Because of the flexibility and customization of the Zone Puck, account managers or the customer need to be at the installation to instruct installers where to place them. Digital Experience Managers can help the customer configure these in the Trainer Connect webtool.
INFORMATIONAL AND CLASSES
Place the Puck on the wall. Configure an informational zone with a video about the class or area. Even include a link to your booking system.
RACKS AND RIGS
Place the Puck on the equipment. Configure a gym zone with all available options for the equipment.
FREE WEIGHT AREAS
Configure zones for kettlebell, barbells or combine into a general free weight zone.
Trainer Connect Account Setup
A major digital component to the Connect System is Trainer Connect (trainer.lifefitness.com). It is the web portal for trainers and staff to manage and communicate with exercisers, and monitor member and equipment usage data. A Trainer Connect account must be created prior to installation, please reach out to your local Digital Experience Manager to create the Trainer Connect account, or to support customer demonstrations.
