Life Fitness PWR Play LPP Core and Station Conversions

It's possible that during the life of a product a customer wants to update or convert their Life Fitness PWR Play (LPP) configuration.

The below two possibilities are the most common requests from customers and sales.

 

Connect an existing stand-alone LPP Core to a new LPP Core

Replace an Adjustable Cable Crossover with a Core with Station

 

Connect an existing stand-alone LPP Core to a new LPP Core

Some LPP Stations can be connected after being installed at customers with another LPP Station and Core. This then can be done without ordering a complete new LPP-CX Station, as that Station would include two new weight stacks for two Cores, whereby one Core at the customer already has a Station with Weight Stack.

The following two Stations can be extended in such way with a Core Connector plus another LPP Station (plus Core):

  1. LPP-AC: PWR Play Adjustable 2:1 Cable
  2. LPP-AD: PWR Play Adjustable 4:1 Dynamic Cable

 

To go from a single LPP-AC/LPP-AD to a full custom-made LPP-CX the following setup needs to be created:

Existing Adjustable Cable (Either LPP-AC or LPP-AD) plus Core (LPP-CORE)   Add a new Crossbar (LPP-CB)   Add a new Adjustable Cable (Either LPP-AC or LPP-AD)  Add a new Core (LPP-CORE)

 

Note: The LPP-CB Crossbar comes in different length options; S, M, L and XL.

Note: Both Adjustable Cables should be the same model to ensure the same cable ratio and ultimately the same feel.

 

Replace an Adjustable Cable Crossover with a Core with Station

When a customer has an Adjustable Cable Crossover (LPP-CC), but wants to convert the 3-legged tower with a 4-legged Core (LPP-CORE), this is possible without ordering a full new LPP-CX, but requires extra work to move parts from the 3-legged tower onto the LPP-CORE as well as order extra parts.

 

IMPORTANT! The following procedure is a special custom procedure which needs the full cooperation and collaboration from Sales, Install and Service, to make it succesfull. Sales has to first contact Install and Service before making commitments to customers. Install and Service have to indicate if, what and how it's possible, as it includes installation of big weldments, normally done by installation teams, but also includes ordering service parts, which need to be used at the same time the conversion happens. Lastly, as this procedure is not documented beyond what is indicated below and is also not a common process for neither installers and service techs, the success of this conversion is dependend on good communication, coordination, ownership, giving the team who converts the products enough time and have the most skilled team execute.

 

The below is the original Adjustable Cable Crossover Station (LPP-CC) with an LPP-CORE the customer wants to convert. 

The following needs to be done to create a custom-made LPP-CX:

Step 1

Have the new LPP-CORE ordered through the finished good process. (NOT the Service Parts process!)

 

Step 2 

Order the following additional parts, which then need to be added to the new LPP-CORE as well:

  1. 1x Cable (p/n: 8946916)
  2. 5x Bolts (p/n: 3236202)
  3. 7x Washers (p/n: 3236601)
  4. 5x Nylock Nuts (p/n: 3236801)
  5. 2x Hole Plugs (p/n: 3237403)
  6. 1x Placard (p/n: 1024717-0001)
  7. 1x Upper Weldment (p/n: 1025057-0000 in the CORRECT frame color)

 

Step 3

Remove the existing 3-legged tower from the current product setup.

 

Step 4

Reuse and move the applicable 3-legged tower parts + newly ordered part to the new LPP-CORE.

Note: Use the Parts Manuals of the LPP-CC and LPP-CX to make sure which parts need to be reused. Currently there is no Manual or detailed instructions for this procedure.

 

Step 5

Connect the newly build LPP-Core to the existing Crossbar and Core.

The final setup should then look like the following:
