Q: Can an original functional frame be exchanged for a new cable frame?
A: For the most part a new cable frame is backward compatible with an original functional frame. Shelves and other side-storage will fit up just the same. If bolted to floor, the two rear bolts are in the same location, but the front hole would need to be redrilled. If a free stand ballast was used, it should bolt up directly to the new frame as before.
However, certain options such as wall ball target, boxing station, rope pull and power pivot will not work on a cable frame. The cable frame itself extends out further so be aware it will consume more floor space.
