Q: Can new SYNRGY shelves or side storage be added to an existing S180 bay?
A: Yes, the new shelves function the same way. However, there are some aesthetic differences to be aware of:
- New-style shelves will not visually align with the original shelves when mounted in the same vertical location. Original 4’ shelves would have to be special ordered if this aesthetic is critical (1012223-0001 Accessory Shelf, 1012222-0001 Dumbbell shelf). There are no “original” shelves available in 6’ length. In this case the only other option is to replace the original 4’ shelves with the new shelves, (1027345-0001)
- Shelves and side storage items are the same except for the mounting hardware. The original tapered spacer (1012186-0001) is plated steel, where the new spacer is black plastic. Both are functionally interchangeable. If the original aesthetic is desired, original spacers will have to be special ordered.
