This guided tour of the SE4 touchscreen covers the home screen — Log In, Quick Start, and Choose Workout — your workout stats and the Entertainment, Terrain, and Stats views, the resistance and level controls, the stop and cool down buttons, Hybrid Mode, and the hardware around the screen including the wireless charging shelf, USB port, and headphone jack.
Read the steps below.
The home screen
| Button | What it does |
| Log In | Signs you in to your Life Fitness Connect account by scanning a QR code with your phone. Signing in is what saves your workouts. |
| Quick Start | Begins a workout immediately, with no setup. |
| Choose Workout | Opens the workout library — Coach Workouts, Goal Workouts & Tests, and Interactive Terrains. |
Around the edges you will find a Language button, a Settings button for your weight, units, and Bluetooth devices, and buttons for connecting an Apple Watch or a Samsung Galaxy Watch.
During a workout
Your stats run along the top — time, distance, calories, and heart rate. Three tiles switch what fills the middle of the screen:
- Entertainment — streaming apps, a web browser, and music.
- Terrain — a first-person video route that your equipment follows by adjusting resistance.
- Stats — a fuller breakdown of your workout so far.
The controls along the bottom
| Control | What it does |
| Resistance / level – and + | Your main control. There is no speed setting — how fast you pedal is up to you. |
| Stop / pause | The red button. Pauses your workout, and ends it from there. |
| Cool down | The blue button. Switches into cool down mode. You can add or remove a minute at a time. |
| Hybrid Mode light bulb | Fills up as you pedal, showing the power you are generating. See the Hybrid Mode article. |
The hardware around the screen
| Feature | What it is for |
| Contactless pad | Pairs your phone, Apple Watch, or Samsung Galaxy Watch by holding the device against it. |
| Wireless charging shelf | Lay a Qi-compatible phone flat on the slanted rubber pad to charge it while you work out. |
| USB port | Charges a device, and is used for console software updates. |
| Headphone jack | For wired headphones. Bluetooth headphones connect through Settings instead. |
| Reading rack | Holds a phone, tablet, or book. |
Important Wi-Fi is worth setting up before anything else. Streaming classes, Interactive Terrains, entertainment apps, and software updates all need an internet connection. See the Manager’s Configuration article. |
Where to go next

- The Goal Workouts and Tests articles for your equipment.
- Connecting Your Apple Watch, Bluetooth devices, and the Life Fitness Connect App.
Safety There is no emergency stop, and no free-wheeling feature — the pedals cannot be stopped instantly. Slow down under control, and mount and dismount with the near pedal at its lowest position while holding the stationary handles. |
