Hybrid Mode shows the electricity you generate as you pedal. A light bulb icon on the bottom of the in-workout screen fills up as you produce power, reducing what your equipment draws from the wall, and your end-of-workout summary tells you how much energy you contributed. This article explains what the icon means and why it only appears on some equipment.
Read the steps below.
What you will see
- A light bulb icon on the bottom bar of the in-workout screen.
- It animates and fills as you pedal and generate electricity, which reduces the power your equipment draws.
- Your workout summary shows a message about the energy your session contributed.
Why it is only on some equipment
Hybrid Mode exists on self-powered equipment — cross-trainers and bikes. A treadmill has a motor driving the belt and consumes power rather than producing it, so there is nothing to show. If you have both at home, you will only see the light bulb on the cross-trainer or bike.
| Hybrid Mode does not change your workout. It is a display of something already happening, and there is nothing to switch on or set up. Pedal harder and the bulb fills faster. |
Troubleshooting
- I cannot see the light bulb. It only appears if Hybrid Mode is enabled on your console, and only during a workout. Check on the in-workout screen rather than the home screen.
- It is not filling up. The amount you generate depends on how hard and how fast you pedal. Raise your resistance or your cadence.
- Does this mean my equipment does not need mains power? Not on an SE4 console — the touchscreen needs a mains supply. Hybrid Mode reduces what it draws rather than replacing it. An SL console, by contrast, runs on the power you generate.
Safety Do not chase the icon at the expense of good form. Work at an effort you can sustain, and stop if you feel dizzy, short of breath, or unwell. |
