Applies to: Atmos Home Cross-Trainer, Upright Bike, and Recumbent Bike — SL Console
A Goal + workout counts toward a distance or a calorie total instead of a time. Set the number you want to finish and work toward it at whatever pace suits you. This article shows how to choose between a distance goal and a calorie goal, enter your target, weight, and level, and track progress as you go.
Read the steps below.
Two kinds of goal
| Goal | What you are working toward | Range |
| Distance Goal | A set distance. | 0.5–30 miles (0.8–48 km), default 3 miles |
| Calories Goal | A calorie total. Enter your weight accurately, since the estimate is built on it. | 50–2,000 calories |
Setting it up
- Press the Goal + key, scroll to Distance Goal or Calories Goal, and press ENTER.
- Enter your target and press ENTER.
- Enter your weight — 75 to 400 lbs, default 165. Press ENTER.
- Enter your level — 1 to 25, default 1. Press ENTER and start pedaling.
| There is no climb goal on a cross-trainer or bike — that one is specific to the treadmill. Distance and calories are the two options here. |
During your workout
Your level stays under your control the whole way — use the LEVEL arrows or type a number on the keypad. The TIME arrows extend or shorten the workout, and COOL DOWN switches into cool down mode.
Your goal does not change once you have started, so pick something you are happy to commit to. Raising your level gets you to a calorie goal faster.
| You can enter your weight partway through using the ENTER WEIGHT key. That improves the calorie estimate without making you start the workout again. |
Troubleshooting
- Pressing the workout key does nothing. The console may be asleep. Start pedaling to wake it and give it up to 30 seconds.
- The level feels far too easy or far too hard. Levels run from 1 to 25, which is a wide span. Change it as you go rather than restarting.
- The console will not accept a number. It is outside the allowed range. The display shows the range when you reach each entry step.
Safety Bring the pedal nearest you to its lowest position and hold the stationary handles before stepping on. Stop if you feel dizzy, short of breath, or unwell. |
